Co-Operative Institute of Health Sciences

CO-OPERATIVE INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, THALASSERY(CIHS), is a renowned college established in the year 1999 under Kerala co-operative hospital federation ltd. College is situated in Thalassery, Kannur, Kerala. The founder chairman is sri. Narayanan, one of the towering figures of the co-operative movement in the state and it was his vision to provide quality education and health care in the northern part of Malabar area. Our institution had started with bachelor of physiotherapy (BPT) course affiliated under Calicut university in1999 and later in the year 2005 the affiliation was shifted to the Kannur university. In the year 2008 more courses in the paramedical stream like BSC.MLT, BSC.MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY, BSC.MEDICAL BIOCHEMISTRY were added to the course list. In the year 2010, post-graduationprogram in physiotherapy (M.P.T.) with 3 specialization was sanctioned by Kannur university.

In the academic year 2014 all these courses were affiliated to KUHS (Kerala university of health sciences, Thrissur). All the courses are approved by the Kerala paramedical council, Govt.of Kerala. Annual intake of college is ,50 seats in BPT courses, 32 seats in BSC.MLT,24 seats in BSC, Medical microbiology, 24 SEATS IN BSC. Medical biochemistry courses. In the post-graduation programs -master of physiotherapy (MPT) we have 9 seats for MPT -musculoskeletal and sports,3 seats for MPT- cardiorespiratory, and 3 seats for MPT- neurology. Admission to all these courses is granted only on the basis of candidates plus two marks in sciences subjects for undergraduate courses and the aggregate of all four years for post-graduation.

The strong academic background of 20 long years with highly qualified and experienced faculty, well equipped laboratory, gym facility, library etc has helped for excellent learning and overall development of each student studying in the paramedical stream.
